The Fellowship Of The Ring

The Fellowship Of The Ring

"Three rings for the elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the dwarf lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for the mortal men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord upon his dark throne,
In the Land of Mordor where the shadows lie.

One ring to rule them all,
One ring to find them,
One ring to bring them all,
And in the darkness bind them
In the Land of Mordor where the shadows lie."

The Fellowship of the Ring is the first book in a series called The Lord Of The Rings. It happens 60 years after Bilbo Baggins left the Shire, the homeland of the hobbits (read my previous blog). This story is about his only heir, Frodo Baggins. In his previous adventure, he had, by pure coincidence, found the One ring of the Dark Lord, Sauron, which Sauron desired more than anything else in the world. Obviously, it had to be destroyed. However, the only way to destroy it was to throw it into the fires of Mount Doom in Mordor, Sauron's stronghold, where it had been forged. Frodo takes part in this perilous journey with 3 other hobbits, Gandalf, a mysterious person named Strider, Boromir- a prince, Legolas- an elf, and Gimli the dwarf.
The Fellowship Of The Ring

The plot is amazing  but the writing style is incredibly slow. So unless you have loads of time on hand, and loads of patience, I would not recommend it.I give it a 7 out of 10.

Signing off, this is THE BIG V.

P.S. The next review will be on 'The Two Towers'

  1. Hey....the book isn't slow at all...It's like a lazy afternoon, lying under a tree with a gentle wind blowing and the grass rustling in the wind...murmuring long forgotten tales and stories in a dreamy, languorous way in your ears.
