Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief
Hey guys!!! This review is on 'Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief '.
Greek gods are alive and kickin'!
Percy Jackson is a boy suffering from dyslexia and is ADHD. Wherever he goes, disaster seems to follow, and he is expelled from every school he goes to. His latest school is The Yancy Academy, where he finally manages to make 1 friend- a weird kid named Grover Underwood and finds a good teacher named Brunner. Everything goes well until he goes on a field trip, where he is attacked by his maths teacher, Mrs. Dodds, who is actually a minion of... Hades, Lord of the Underworld! There he manages to kill(well, I say 'kill'- more like 'vaporized') her with the help of his teacher, Mr. Brunner, who gives him a pen which turns into a bronze sword. This later becomes Percy's primary weapon. He discovers that the Greek Gods do exist, his teacher is a centaur(half-man, half-horse), his best friend is a satyr(half-man, half-goat), and his father is Poseidon, Lord of the Sea, and there is a camp for people like him- demigods, named Camp Half-Blood.
This book by Rick Riordan is one of the most interesting books I have ever read. The narrating style is very natural and we can relate to the narrator, Percy Jackson, as he goes through many dilemmas and tries his best to make the right choice.
It is a good read for all ages- it is a well-written book, keeps you gripped and wants to make you read the next book.
I would give it a 9.5 out of 10
Signing off, this is THE BIG V.
