The Return Of The King
The Return Of The King
The former Fellowship members prepare for war against Mordor, with Isengard out of the way. Frodo and Samwise approach Mount Doom to destroy the One Ring and follow Gollum, unaware of the path he is taking them to. (read my previous blog)
A fitting end to Tolkien's epic trilogy, The Return Of The King is the best book in the series. Unlike the previous two books, not one chapter is boring. Even if I tried, I wouldn't be able to find a fault in this amazing book.
All the events climax with the war against Mordor, which they would have lost had the Ring not been destroyed by Frodo, Samwise and an unexpected helper.
However it doesn't end there. Aragorn is crowned High King of Gondor, as he is the last Numenorean. The hobbits go back to the Shire, only to find that Saruman has taken over the place. That is when the hobbits surprise themselves, by defeating Saruman and accidentally killing him! A fitting end, I think.
I give it a 10 out of 10. It is a brilliant book and anybody who says otherwise doesn't know what he/she is talking about.
Signing off, this is THE BIG V.
P.S. My next blog post is open for suggestions, so if you would like me to give a review on any book of your choice you can. Adios!!:-)
