Alcubierre Drive/Warp Drive-Something out of Star Trek or a Plausibility?
Hi guys!!! As promised in my last post, I will be explaining one of the concepts I had spoken about. In this one I will be explaining the Alcubierre Drive. Let's proceed from here.

A warp drive
To understand what an Alcubierre Drive is, we must first understand Einstein's theory of special relativity. I will give a brief explanation of this. The theory of relativity says that the speed of light, which is denoted as c, is constant. Nothing can move faster than the speed of light, so you could call it the ultimate speed limit. Now, WHY can nothing move faster than light?
The answer lies in the simple and beautiful Einsteinian equation:
E = mc²
E denotes energy, m mass and c the speed of light. Therefore, this could also be written as:
Energy = mass multiplied by the speed of light squared
Basically, because of the equivalence of mass and energy, the more energy you apply to increase the speed of an object will also contribute to its mass being increased. The closer you get to the speed of light, the faster the mass will be added, until the mass of the object will be infinite and the energy required to move it will be infinite.
In fact, as an object approaches the speed of light, time will slow down and space will contract. When I say space will contract, I could also say it would be 'warped', hence the Alcubierre or warp drive comes into the picture.
Now, I will give you the definition of Alcubierre Drive.
The Alcubierre drive, the Alcubierre warp drive or Alcubierre metric (referring to metric tensor) is a speculative idea based on a solution of Einstein's field equations in general relativity as proposed by theoretical physicist Miguel Alcubierre, by which a space-craft could achieve apparent faster-than-light travel if a configurable energy-density field lower than that of vacuum (that is, negative mass) could be created.

Don't try understanding this. I didn't myself, until I saw a bunch of videos, did a LOT of research and finally arrived here!
In simple words, the Alcubierre drive is a theory proposed by theoretical physicist Miguel Alcubierre. It was inspired by the Star Trek warp drive, and was renamed the Alcubierre drive.
Now, according to him, if a vessel (let's call it a star ship) were to go at a high enough speed, very close to the speed of light, it would warp space (shorten space) in a way that while it remained stationary, the destination will come to the vessel.
In this way, the star-ship will move FASTER THAN LIGHT while NOT MOVING AT ALL.
However, for the star-ship to reach such a speed, it will have to be powered by exotic matter (negative mass), which, as of now, doesn't exist, except in theory. Until that happens, sadly, the Alcubierre drive can only remain a scientific possibility, nothing more.
This is where I must take your leave. I hope you ponder over what you learnt today, and return for more.
Until then, goodbye!
Signing off, this is THE BIG V
