Who am I?

Greetings!

I am Lord Invictus, from a separate dimension, and here to conquer you all!
Or am I Darth Vader, here on the orders of my Emperor?
Or am I Vidhaan Sharma, writing this blog post from the comforts of home?
Or am I just a plant, dreaming of this world?
In other words, WHO AM I?

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, the topic of today is- "Who am I?"
If I were to ask you this question, you would most probably give your name, or something of the sort. Some might also look at me as if I am deranged (I can prove this, since my brother did look at me like that 😂). Very few of you, or the amnesiacs, would say- "I have absolutely no idea"
For we don't, now do we?

Let's look at this PHILOSOPHICALLY.

What do we think makes US up?

There are three options-
Our body
Our memories
Or that sense of self which all of us have

Now we look at it closely.

Our body is who we are-
According to this theory, it's our body that makes us who we are. However, I am gonna give a very good argument for why it is not possible. For all those above the age of 10, we do not have the same body anymore. You see, our cells are constantly dying and being replaced with new ones. By the age of 10, every single cell in our body as we were born, is GONE. Therefore, this theory doesn't work.

Our memories make us who we are-
According to this theory, our memories make us up. And this seems like a great theory, doesn't it? There's only one problem with it. It's NOT a good theory at all. If it was our memories that made us up, our 2-year old self and our 62-year old self would have absolutely nothing in common. If they met their past selves or future selves, they might not even know it!! Plus, there's something more to a person than just memories. Two different people with the same memories would still be two different people. Therefore, this theory is also wrong.

A sense of self is who we are-
According to this theory, it's our sense of self that makes us who we are. However, this is also wrong. If two people had the exact same personalities, but different memories would they then be the same people? Most certainly not. Hence, this theory is also bunk.

Now, I shall propose a completely different theory.

It is the sum total of our memories and personalities that make us up- No more need be said for that.

In this post, I have resolved an age-old conflict. Someone else might have already before me, or someone might have an argument against it. I am open to both.
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this one. If you didn't, please comment below and tell me what could be better.

SIGNING OFF, THIS IS THE BIG V.
