Do We Have Free Will?
NUMBER FIVE COMIN' UP!
Do we have free will? Honestly speaking, nope. As far as "common sense" is concerned, yeah we do. However, philosophy tells a different tale altogether. According to philosophy, we have no free will. Let me explain how.
According to philosophy, every atom in our body is controlled by the laws of nature. So far, so good. Here's where the punchline comes, though.
If every atom is going to be controlled by nature, then hypothetically speaking, we could predict, with all the physical data we have, exactly WHEN and WHAT we are going to do. If we could, that would mean that our free will is an illusion and all we do is predetermined!!
I was always going to be writing this today, at this time. Even the neurons in my brain are controlled by the laws of nature, so even my thoughts are merely a byproduct of nature. They cannot think in any way other than the ones in which they are supposed to. Lions cannot eat grass. Goats cannot eat meat. Humans cannot run like a cheetah without external help. These things will happen whether we want them to or not. The same way, we will think in this way whether we want to or not, because that is how it is supposed to be. Or so we think. Or do we?
Thank you for reading this. Next coming up is even more interesting. Stay with me.
SIGNING OFF, THIS IS THE BIG V.
