Time And Tide Wait For None

Hey, everybody! Today, I'll be sharing my views on the topic above. Now, I must admit, I didn't write it for my blog, but for my English Orals. See, we had to pick one of four topics to speak on for 2 minutes, and I chose this one. Now, let's proceed.

We've all heard of the great conquerors of the past. Alexander The Great! Chakravarty Samrat Ashok Maurya! First Consul and later Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte! To-be-dictator Julius Caesar! Barbaric killer Genghis Khan!
However, what doesn't occur to most of us is this: For every one Caesar, or one Bonaparte, there were a thousand - nay, a hundred thousand - nay, a million - nay, a hundred million unknown, unimportant faces in the background.

What separated these great men from the unknown they ruled? To be honest, there were many things, but one of the most important reasons for their success was their efficient application of the old maxim, "Time And Tide Wait For None".

Time is a force of nature. It is the fourth dimension. A thing of beauty, etched into the very fabric of reality. For some, it means nothing. These people, to politely (I hope) put it, are useless, food-and-water-wasting lumps of meat. For some, it holds meaning, but they fail to use it wisely. These people, the ones that make up the majority of the world, are SHEEP. For a RARE FEW, it is a tool. A tool that holds unimaginable power. The few who wield it ascend to the position of shepherd, free to lead the sheep of the world in the way they deem fit. These people are the ones that even time itself failed to destroy. These people are the Alexanders and Ashoks of the world. They realised the potential power of time, and used it to help them achieve their goals, and today, they've beaten time.

Father Time is a cruel, and yet, a benevolent person. He razes kingdoms. Reduces mountains to nothing but rubble. Kills thousands everyday, and yet- he also creates new kingdoms. Raises new mountains. Gives life everyday. You see, he can be likened to a hammer with two different sides- good and bad. The greater one is, the greater the other. We all are worthy of lifting THIS hammer. Whether you leave it lying on the ground, or pick it up and absorb all that power? That's up to you.

Thank You

Signing Off, this is The Big V.
