TIME TRAVEL- A REALITY OR JUST SCIENCE FICTION?
Time Travel.
Time Travel. A topic which has been debated for ages. Is it something which may come true a few millennia later, or just science fiction, not worth much attention?
I will help you understand exactly that in this in this blog post.
First, let us understand exactly what time travel is:
Time travel is the concept of movement between certain points in time, analogous to movement between different points in space by an object or a person, typically with the use of a hypothetical device known as a time machine.
A TARDIS, the time machine of the fictional character known as Doctor Who
Now, let us look at arguments for both sides:
In favor of:-
1)
According to certain physicists, time travel is theoretically possible in certain general relativity space-time geometries that permit travelling faster than the speed of light, such as cosmic strings, traversable wormholes and Alcubierre drives( I will explain all these in my future posts).
2) According to Einstein's theory of relativity, time travel is possible if we can travel at 186000 miles per second( which is light speed), in theory.
Against:-
1) According to Stephen Hawking's chronology protection conjecture, time travel is possible on microscopic scales ONLY.
2) Paradoxes such as the grandfather paradox and the bootstrap paradox would also negate the possibility of time travel. Novikov's self-consistency principle denies that, but luckily for this party, it is not widely accepted.
Well, I have looked at arguments from both sides, and I must be honest, I am tilting towards time travel not being possible. But that's just my view. What about you? What do you think?
Signing off, this is THE BIG V.
P.S. My next few blogs will be explaining all the bizarre subjects in this one. This may take some time, since I will have to do the research myself.Anyways, bye!
P.S.S. Please do comment on my post. It would be really encouraging and helpful.
hi vidsharma hope u havin nice life just wanna share a fact which may help u in ur research ya so it is that we can become younger in space by 0.001 second
ReplyDeleteAs a matter of fact, Yes, I do know. What you are referring to is known as time dilation
