Greatness

Hello, everyone. It's been a long time since I last posted here, but I wanted to share something that's been on my mind a lot lately.
It's a question that haunts me at night, a question that nags at me endlessly, a question I believe I still truly haven't found the answer to.

What is greatness?

With this post, I want to share my views with all of you and I hope it inspires you to ask yourself the same question. Without further ado, let's get right into it.

2 years ago, I spoke of the purpose of life. Back then, I believed that life had no purpose apart from the one you gave it. That is still a cherished belief of mine, and here is the purpose I have given my life-
I wish to achieve greatness.
It sounds cool, it sounds amazing. If you're ever at a party and someone asks you what you wanna do when you grow up, this line is sure to raise a few eyebrows. However, this statement is not as simple as it seems because the problem is, we, as a species, have not defined greatness properly yet. I am here to try and fix that.

Greatness is-

The relentless pursuit, the never-ending chase for perfection. Overcoming the greatest obstacles, never losing sight of the goal. To build and sculpt a powerful body, housing a powerful mind.
There will be obstacles. There will be pitfalls, and there will be failures. Many times, the urge to give up, to stop chasing that dream which we call perfection, will almost consume us. We'll say to ourselves, "Maybe I'm trying too hard. Maybe I should take it easy." Greatness lies in denying that urge. Greatness lies in rising above your limitations as an individual, and realizing that you are human. We have flown to the moon, we have split the atom, we have conquered this planet. We are capable of so much more than we think we are capable of. Are we really going to let our petty urges stop us? No, greatness is achieved when you internalize the knowledge of your own abilities, it is achieved when you truly unlock your potential as the deadliest predator this world has ever known. Chase your goals the same way a lion hunts its prey. Realize that the joy lies in the hunt, not the kill. The joy lies in the journey, not the destination. And then, when you finally reach your destination, if you ever can... know that you have transcended your mortality, and you have entered the realm of the divine.

That is greatness.

  1. Nicely written. Don't agree with certain things but it's a good concept.
